- Abstract
An essay is presented on the poetry collection "Men and Women," which was published in 1855 by Victorian poet Robert Browning. The essay discusses the political beliefs of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Browning's wife, as represented in the collection, the couple's view on socialism and the effect that Robert Browning's dissension from Christianity had on his politics. The essay suggests that through an analysis of Barrett Browning's politics, Robert Browning's politics become clearer.
