- Abstract
The article discusses the impact that school photographs have on the self-efficacy of children with disabilities. It argues that a stigma exists against students with disabilities in society and that school photographs that show children with a blank stare can reinforce the aforementioned stigma. It presents a list of ways in which special education teachers and school photographers can encourage a student to smile for a picture, discusses ways in which photographs influence the ways peers interact with children with disabilities, and explores reasons why this alleged picture bias exists.
