- Authors
XINYAO XIAO
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the play "Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare, with regard to the rhetoric of honor, is presented. It argues that honor as an oxymoron is a symptom of an anxiety about rhetoric which the play evaluates and rehearses. The character Brutus' obsession with his honor is analyzed as well as ways that Brutus justifies his performance and dissimulation with his ethos. Also discussed are the destruction of Brutus' honor.
