- Abstract
The article investigates the politico-cultural significance of atrocity in an effort to explore practices and representations of violence in the American Revolutionary War. Topics covered include the other types of violation of the laws of war, such as rape, committed by the Native American and German auxiliaries, an inquiry into the cultural history of violence based on battlefield atrocities between Anglo-American forces, and the political and cultural work which atrocity was performed.
