The article discusses the depiction of pathologizing and gendering in the socio-economic in the city comedy drama "The Honest Whore," Part I, by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton. The drama features characters engaging in overtly transgressive behavior signaled by sexually charged language. The two protagonists embody anxieties of difference. They depict English fears of those residing within English culture who are perceived to destabilize socio-economic balances.
