- Abstract
The article presents a study that aims to determine whether the presence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) ribonucleic acid (RNA) in serum is an independent risk factor for acquiring hepatitis induced by isoniazid. The study was conducted between January 1998 and July 2002 to patients who either underwent in methadone or naltrexone-maintenance programs or in drug-free programs. It then concluded that HCV RNA provides accurate signs on the risk of isoniazid hepatotoxicity than antibodies against HCV in serum.
