The article focuses on the education of Arthur Wellesly in Brussels, Belgium from 1784-1785. Topics covered include a challenge by Belgian historian Henri Bernard to a claim that Wellesly was taught by his tutor and landlord Louis Goubert, an examination of Bernard's claim for Jacobus Foubert, and Benjamin Constant's autobiographical account of Wellesley's education in Brussels.
