- Abstract
Having spent my entire life in a martial arts-oriented family, I have observed several generations of martial arts greats: masters, students, and enthusiasts alike. Drawing on my experiences as a modern-day 21st-century martial artist, I have come to establish a strong belief that traditional martial arts today are unfortunately on the decline. I would like to present in this article some of my personal thoughts and findings regarding this matter. Martial artists of this century are falling short in trying to effectively preserve the deeper essence of our authentic, traditional lineages. I believe we can do more. i~\s martial artists, if we do not adapt to the rapidly changing face of todays societal patterns, technology, and practices, the irreplaceable, genuine knowledge, principles, and history of this very culture will be unknowingly, incorrectly modified and lost to time.
