- Title
RISK AND THE SUBLIME.
- Authors
Francis, Vievee
- Abstract
The author shares her insights on the 2012 Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. She considers foundational knowledge as the poetry basics and recognizes the role of the study of poetics in developing voice and change in a person. She explains how a poet is able to begin to write based on the needs of the poem in mind and not with personal motivations. She points out the importance of discussing with students the things that instructors risk in order to move poets past their own boundaries.
