- Abstract
A film criticism is presented for "Huapango," a Mexican film adaptation directed by Ivan Lipkies of English playwright William Shakespeare's "Othello." Topics discussed include the cultural aspects of the play and the way these are depicted in the film, the use of Mexican dance tradition and the huapango dance in the film, and the importance of the character of Julia, who is based on the character in Shakespeare's play named Desdemona.
