- Title
Presidential Address: Reflections on Equity and Inclusion in Public Policy.
- Authors
Martinez, John
- Abstract
I hope that during your time with us you see APPAM as a welcoming community and as a great professional home - as it has been for me - and that this is the first of many APPAM conferences in your future. I also want to thank my colleagues on the APPAM executive committee and policy council for their commitment to APPAM. Participation in these programs isn't a panacea for creating more diversity in our field, but I think they go a long way toward helping students who are underrepresented understand what a career in public policy analysis and research might look like. I knew from the moment Matt Stagner called me to ask if I might be interested in considering the Presidency of APPAM that, if I did it, equity and inclusion would be the theme of the conference I organized as well as this address.
