RECYCLING BAGS FOR TWO DECADES.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the report by Canada's Environment and Plastic Industry Council (EPIC) that states that shoppers at 200 stores in Atlantic provinces have recycled about 100 million pounds of plastic bags in the past two decades. Prince Edward Island is stated to have the highest plastic bag recycling rate of 57%. The recycling program was started by British Columbia in the 1990's and was joined by Ontario resulting in over 1500 retail stores in providing space for recycling efforts.
