HOUSING PROJECTS AND CITY PLANNING.
- Authors
BETTMAN, ALPRED
- Abstract
The article discusses several issues related to housing projects and city planning in the U.S. It presents reasons based on which a projected slum clearance or housing development project may find its economic, moral and political bases in the city plan. It discusses legal problems surrounding the large-scale, low-cost housing. It is stated that the cost of property to be acquired for a slum clearance and housing development has decisive effect upon the success of the effort. It is reported that several factors including speculative land values, have contributed to the social evils produced by slum and bad housing.
