- Abstract
In the current years, many researchers have been developing treatment methods using different plant extracts for their inhibitory effect on microbial growth because of its important effectiveness in eliminating pathogenic bacteria and reducing the use of antibiotics, especially after the emergence of resistant strains of many of them so we selected to frankincense and vinegar for this research. Stenotrophomons spp. are gram negative bacteria cause injuries in different areas of the body, including urinary tract infections, often misdiagnosed because of their similarity to Pseudomonas spp., have the ability to resist many antibiotics as they possess â- lactam enzymes. Thirty one clinical samples of Stenotrophomons spp. were obtained from 131 samples after detected by phenotypic and online software program (http://www.tgw1916.net/index.html), we detected that highly effectiveness antibiotic against bacteria was Levofloxacin (67.7%), we found that frankincense is more effectiveness than vinegar on bacteria, it is kill Stenotrophomonas spp. growth at 100 and 50 µg/ml concentration for with average vinegar and frankincense (3.13 and 13.13 µg/ml and 1.00 and 10.16 µg/ml), respectively. Statistical analysis showed that frankincense had more effective against S. maltophilia than levofloxacin and vinegar.
