- Abstract
This article grants the results of a qualitative research, bears in mind an ethnographic approach, which addressed the social representations (R.S) of a group of 12 miners from Bajo Cauca Antioqueño, concerning mining. It was assumed from a procedural approach, which allows reading the constructions of individuals within the framework of a socio-environmental conflict. Based on depth interviews, emerging categories were obtained that place the following social representations: a) mining route towards development, b) mining a necessary and litigable, c) mining, conflict and struggle. These representations built by the miners, permeate diffusive dialogues related to sustainable development and global socio-economic logic, and allow the miners to work on the territory, organize as a guild to embark on territorial defense actions and reduce the risk posed by state regulations and illegal groups.
