- Abstract
The article focuses on the results of a study on the effect of current and midlife obesity status on the mortality risk among 70-year olds in Framingham, Massachusetts. Obesity based on current body mass index (BMI) was associated with a 21% increased mortality risk. Obesity based on BMI measures obtained during 50 years of age was linked with a 55% increased risk. Those without obesity measures both at 50 and 70 years of age had 47% increased risk.
