- Authors
Ginex, Pamela K.; Moriarty, Kerri
- Abstract
The article discusses the evidence-based practice used by a team of nurses at California-based Loma Linda University Medical Center to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) in a medical-surgical acute care oncology unit. CAUTIs are reportedly preventable, however it is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in acute care hospitals. Comments from nurses Carol Nielsen and Charis McCoy on their experiences of participating in the practice are also presented.
