- Abstract
The New World Order began to transform from the USA-centered unipolarity to multipolarity immediately after multi-centric world within a short while after the Cold War. However, on the days when this transformation did not exactly realize, NATO and the EU duo acted with the expansion strategy and got closer to the boundaries accepted by Russia Federation as red line. Russia, on the other hand, reacted to this situation from the events that took place in Georgia, Syria, and Ukraine with the thought of not losing its influence in the near abroad. The internal conflicts happening in Syria beginning from 2011 not only initiated a human tragedy, where hundreds of thousands civilians lost their lives, but they also provided the ground for many countries to intervene in region. At that point, Russia endeavored to strengthen its presence in the global politics in general and its presence in Syria in private by contacting with various focal points, primarily the Ba'ath Regime in Syria. In this study, the foundations of Russia-Syria relations were evaluated with outlines and then the question of Syria was examined through the West-Russia Competition.
