- Title
STIMULUS CONTROL IS AN INFERENCE: IMPLICATIONS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMMING.
- Authors
Saunders, Kathryn
- Abstract
The author discusses the importance and timeliness of the current reprise of Murray Sidman's "Remarks" due to the widespread use of discrete-trial instructional procedures in the education of children with developmental disabilities. He cites Sidman's conceptualization of stimulus control as an inference based on observation that a response to a particular stimulus is not enough to conclude that it is stimulus controlled. He suggests that stimulus control should be taught to all students.
