- Abstract
This article is an editorial that highlights recent advances in abiotic stress research for Asia. Abiotic stress, caused by climate extremes and industrialization, poses a significant threat to agriculture in Asia, particularly for smallholder farmers who produce a majority of the region's crops. The research topic aims to showcase achievements in abiotic stress research from within the region and promote collaboration to address food security challenges. The published articles cover various abiotic stresses, including acidic soil, osmotic stress, anaerobic conditions, heat, heavy metal pollution, and water logging. The research contributes to a better understanding of plant adaptation and strategies for improving abiotic stress tolerance.
