- Abstract
The article discusses the efforts made by the U.S. Department of Education to enforce civil rights law in the schools and colleges through its Office for Civil Rights (OCR). It mentions that post 1979 the OCR is making sure that the federally funded educational institutions comply with federal civil rights statutes. It mentions that the complaints that OCR receives mainly comprise of discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin, on basis of sex and on basis of disability.
