Abstract
The article provides information on the economic state of the flower industry in Kenya. It states that the global recession and drought might cause the industry to shrink by 40%. It notes that the demand for flowers declined by 30% in the first half of 2009. Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union national treasurer Joshua Oyuga cites big and small flower farms' intent to lay off workers. It adds that flower farms in Naivasha will scale down production by 25%.
