- Abstract
The article reports on the 2.166 billion dollar assets transferred by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to South Africa in August 2009. It notes that the amount is part of to the special drawing rights (SDR) earmarked to help countries deal with global economic crises. It mentions that the assets have contributed to the 6.49% increase of Reserve Bank of South Africa's net reserves. It mentions that statement of IMF that South Africa had been gradually building up international reserves.
