- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S. Civil War and Reconstruction-themed work of authors Robert Penn Warren and Wendell Berry and argues that it functions as a gateway and combination of historical scholarship and Civil War collective memory regarding Kentucky, particularly what is referred to revisionism and antiwar efforts as the dark side of the history of the war.
