- Title
Is Luke's Version of the Parable of the Rich Fool Reflected in the Coptic Gospel of Thomas?
- Authors
Meier, John P.
- Abstract
The essay compares the Coptic "Gospel of Thomas" (CGT) to the Synoptic Gospel of Luke in the New Testament of the Bible in order to determine textual and historical influence, focusing on Luke's parable of the Rich Fool. The two works' use of introductory anecdotes is discussed, and the author argues that Luke used the literary structure of introductions to describe the audience or the theme of the parable that followed, and was later copied by Thomas.
