- Abstract
The article presents a study on the evaluation of anthropogenic threats to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI) in Hawaii. It states that NWHI make up one of the most isolated and remote ecosystems in the world, and is subjected to many anthropogenic threats. The study employed a standardized and systematic method in collecting and quantitatively synthesizing expert opinion on the ecological effects anthropological threats to the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument in NWHI. It provides details on the reasons behind the particular ranking of threats, and why the ranking may vary across ecological landscapes. An overview of the methodology and the survey statistics is also offered.
