- Abstract
The article reports on two technologies that have been developed to bridge the therapy gap between standard oxygen therapy and invasive mechanical ventilation, namely, noninvasive ventilation and high-flow nasal oxygen therapy. Topics discussed include proliferation of these technologies although there is controversy about how these technologies fit in the management of acute hypodermic respiratory failure and possible adverse effects of high-flow nasal oxygen therapy in the trial.
