- Abstract
The article describes a case of toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) induced by allopurinol with human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6)reactivation in a woman. Despite the absence of serious internal organ involvement, pulmonary oedema and a slight increase in serum creatinine were noted. It concluded that physicians must consider sequential testing for HHV-6 with prolonged Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/TEN when induced by drugs known to be causative of drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome (DIHS).
