- Title
FATHERS AND THE SUPREME COURT: FOUNDING FATHERS AND NURTURING FATHERS.
- Authors
Dowd, Nancy E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the concepts of shared parenting and gender-neutral support of parents, as well as the support of families in contemporary society, with an emphasis on how the issue is related to the predominance of men in the Supreme Court. The idea is to delve into the issue of negative societal bias about men's caregiving that belies the supposed legal preference for gender neutrality and shared parenting. The author's discussion on how the concept of nurture as the core definition of fatherhood affects the outcome of cases concludes the article.
