- Abstract
The concept of Islamophobia is a naming that does not represent many details and causes misinterpretation of the situation. Because Islamophobia expresses societies' attitudes against Islam, such as fear, hatred, shame and insult. The most important factor in developing these feelings is the prejudices produced through institutions such as family, social environment, education and media, in which Western people find themselves since birth. Anti-Islamism, on the other hand, expresses a state of conscious hostility based on an ideology and a political attitude. Western media and orientalists act in a coordinated manner to reinforce Islamophobic feelings in society and try to associate somehow all kinds of adverse events that will cause society's dislike of the religion of Islam. As a matter of fact, media-orientalism cooperation, which wants to imprint the concept of "Islamic terrorism" in minds by associating an incident of violence perpetrated by people with or alleged Muslim identity with Islam, presents Muslims, whom it describes as fundamentalists, as a bogeyman to the world. The history of Islam is not the history of the religion that started with the invitation of Muhammad, but the history of the religion that all the prophets invited from Adam onwards. For this reason, we believe that searching the mental background of the anti-Islam and Islamophobic attitude in the course of the reactions to all the prophets sent since the first prophet. Thus their invitations will offer us a more holistic perspective. Allah has sent many prophets to teach His servants His messages and remind them when they forget. As the Qur'an confirms, a prominent elite class in every era has taken a stand against the invitation they saw that contradicted their interests. In order to support their anti-Islamic attitudes with the Islamophobic attitude of the public, they tried to portray the prophets, their invitations and the believers who followed them as corrupt and malevolent bad people through various perception studies they developed. As a matter of fact, Hud was accused of lying. Before that, when Noah invited his people, the leading people accused him of being astray. Shuayb also received a similar reaction from the arrogant group of his people and was threatened with being expelled from their homeland along with those who believed in him if he did not convert to their religion. Likewise, when Moses invited Pharaoh and the people, the leading people tried to create prejudice against him in the eyes of the people by accusing him of magic. The last prophet Muhammad was also exposed to the same reactions and was accused of being a poet, magician and soothsayer by the leading group of his people. There is no principle in Islam's attitude towards non-Muslims that will lead to Islamophobia. Because Islam is a religion that prioritizes peace. The religion of Islam has never approved a practice such as the forced Islamization of non- Muslims. He adopted the struggle with dialogue and wisdom as a principle. The Medina Document is the best practice for this. As a matter of fact, with this constitution, freedom of belief and social rights were granted to non-Muslims. The adventure of humanity is a process that begins with Adam and continues until the end of the world. Even though times, places, people and events change in this process, what never changes is the struggle between good and evil, right and wrong. The ability of people to evaluate the events well and to make healthy inferences in the times they live depends on a good reading of the relationship between the events in the actual life they witness and the unchanging and always valid general rules of Allah called Sunnatullah. In other words, when they understand where the small picture they witness is placed in the big picture, they can evaluate the events more broadly. Because although new developments, events and concepts are encountered over time all of these are the reflections of mental attitudes in the human process at that moment. As a result, the concept of Islamophobia, which emerged as a concept of the modern and post-modern era, reflects the reality mentioned above in terms of its mental background. However, it is new in terms of discourse. For this reason, it will give us a more consistent perspective to evaluate the current anti-Islam and Islamophobic attitudes in the elite segment who are worried about their interests in the adventure of humanity and the public opinion center exposed to their perception.
