- Abstract
The article presents reprints of electronic mail messages written by Sheldon Goldstein and Gerald Hayden which discuss the history of Jewish Americans in Alaska. It considers the impact of early Juneau settler Reuben (Robert) Goldstein and his descendants on the history of Juneau as well as the history of the synagogue Sukkat Shalom. It also discusses the history of larger Jewish settlements in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau and considers notable people such as Rabbi Harry L. Rosined, steamboat operator Lewis Gerstle, and Anchorage mayor David Leopold.
