- Authors
Tinkler, Keith John
- Abstract
Gadbury's published diary 'Nauticum Astrologicum...' covers 32 years of daily London weather from 1668–1700, in manuscript at the Bodleian library, Oxford. Transcription to spreadsheets has allowed the analysis of weather trends using about 41 weather terms. Eight‐point wind roses begin on 11 May 1673, augmented with partial records for most of 1671–1673. Diagrammatic summaries for weather and temperature terms are plotted annually in half‐month frequency bins. The 32‐year record is roughly divided into phases with approximate breaks at 1680 and 1690.
