- Title
July 2021 Dry, sunny and warm in most of north and west. Often dull and wet much of central and eastern England; some notable thunderstorm deluges.
- Abstract
The pressure pattern was different, though, being in the mean weakly cyclonic over the country this month, and a further contrast was that there were notable thunderstorms on several days, especially in the London area where rainfall anomalies were as high as 400% in places (though this compares with only 55% of normal in northeast Kent). Although Braemar (Aberdeenshire) reported an early morning temperature of -0.1°C on the 2nd, there was some warm, sunny weather at the start of the month, with showers in places. Further locally severe thunderstorms affected parts of the south, chiefly central southern England, early on the 24th, and on the afternoon of the 25th they were again severe, with torrential rain and hail, over much of southeast England (except east Kent) and the southwest of East Anglia, with flooding.
