Romero-Little, Eunice; Blum-Martinez, Rebecca
- Abstract
The article features the effort of Cochiti Pueblo, an American Indian community in New Mexico, for the revitalization and advancement of its mother tongue. The community received three grants from Administration for Native Americans (ANA) in 1994, 1996 and 1998 to revitalize the Cochiti language. It initiated a number of community-wide language renewal projects including the Cochiti Summer Youth Language Program (CSYLP). Indigenous language educators were involved in the language revitalization project.
