- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of debtors' unions as a means of challenging racial capitalism. The Debt Collective, the first debtors' union in the US, has successfully abolished $180 billion in debt for working people. The article highlights the potential of debtors' unions to address various types of debt, advocate for universal healthcare and fair lending practices, and fight for economic justice. It emphasizes the importance of collective action and organizing, including debt strikes, to address systemic issues and inequalities. The text also critiques the unequal treatment of debtors compared to wealthy individuals and corporations and calls for the formation of debtors' unions to create a more equitable society.
