- Abstract
The article highlights the need for internal organizational change in the forced displacement sector in order to achieve a shift in power. It recognizes that refugees and their allies in the host community are implementing community-driven comprehensive solutions, but they are often excluded from the humanitarian and development system. Despite UNHCR's commitments to localization and participation, direct funding to local and refugee-led organizations is minimal. The importance of understanding power dynamics and addressing systemic imbalances in the sector is emphasized. Asylum Access has implemented workshops on anti-racism and diversity, equity and inclusion, and has invested in refugee leadership and trauma-sensitive practices to promote equitable partnerships.
