- Abstract
The article discusses the validity of Barbetta rule as articulated after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit case Barbetta v. S/S Bermuda Star which deals in maritime law. It states that ship carry doctors for convenience of passengers but don't have any liability for their performance. It depicts that recent developments in law and technology have outdated the Barbetta rule and appeals re-examination of ship owner's liability for ship's physicians and other medical staff.
