- Abstract
This article discusses the detection of noncanonical CALR variants in patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). The study found that these variants occur in about 1.3% of the studied cohort. Noncanonical CALR variants can be categorized into three types: small deletions, missense variants, and variants in the 3ʹ-untranslated region (3ʹ-UTR) of CALR. These variants do not fully replicate the disease-driving function of the common CALR indel mutations and may have different clinical characteristics. Further research is needed to understand the role of these noncanonical CALR variants in MPN pathogenesis.
