- Abstract
The article discusses the depiction of American Indians in Anglophone Caribbean children's literature from the 1960s to the 2000s. Books from Jamaica, Dominica, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago are considered, including "West Indian Folk Tales" (1966) by Philip Sherlock, "Twins of Illora" (1975) by Jan Carew, "The Caribs and The Arawaks" (1996) by Paula Sorhaindo, and seven others. Topics discussed include the oral tradition, magical realism, and the influence of colonial and postcolonial writing.
