- Title
Science in the City: Culturally Relevant STEM Education: A Review.
- Authors
Dixon-Payne, Deneen S.
- Abstract
While Brown's work does not give educators a checklist, he provides well-thought-out scenarios that can begin the work of reshaping the urban science classroom and the educators that lead them. Therefore, providing educators with a follow-up guide to cultural discourse that supports student's understanding in the science classroom and a gender-appropriate perspective would have been extremely beneficial toward creating sustainable and long-term outcomes in urban science classrooms. Brown addresses the intricacies of student identity, science discourse, and encouraging science engagement.
