- Abstract
Moniletrix is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by a structural alteration in the hair shaft with periodic thinning, giving a beaded appearance to the hair. It can be accompanied by follicular hyperkeratosis and koilonychia, along with other findings. We present two cases, a mother and daughter with monilethrix, who also showed an absent lunula in 20 nails. The hair shaft abnormality was clearly distinguished in dermoscopy with the use of a hand piece at office.
