- Abstract
The article discusses research which examines the importance of fish oil feeding in regulating the expression of 5-aminolevulinate synthase 2 (ALAS2) mRNA in rat's cerebral cortex. The study showed that the expression of ALAS2 mRNA was up-regulated by fish oil feeding. It indicated that the promoter activity of ALAS2 was found to be regulated by retinoic acid and revealed that fish oil modulates neuronal functions via heme synthesis.
