- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the hypocholesterolemic action of a cattle heart protein hydrolysate (HPH), and the effects of HPH on cholesterol absorption by using Caco-2 cells and rats. The study investigates the mechanism for HPH-induced hypocholesterolemia, and the micellar solubility of cholesterol in Caco-2 cells. It reveals that in the animal model, the presence of HPH and HPH ultra-filtrate (HPHU) showed stronger hypocholesterolemic action than in the presence of casein.
