- Abstract
The article focuses on the isolation and functional analysis of cytochrome P450 CYP153A genes from various environments such as petroleum-contaminated soil and groundwater. Polymerase chain reaction broadens the sequences of the new P450 genes to yield chimeric genes. The chimeric P450s and P450balk combine to the reductase domain of the P450 monooxygenase at the C-terminus. Escherichia coli changes 4-phenyl-1-butene, cyclohexane, 1-octene, n-butylbenzene, and n-alkanes into 2-phenethyl-oxirane, cyclohexanol, 1,2-epoxyoctane, 1-phenyl-4-butanol, and 1-alkanols.
