- Abstract
The article examines the fascinating aspects of modern Islam in Indonesia and in Japanese Shinran Buddhism. It compares the fundamental-liberalism in Islam in Indonesia and in the Mba Priok sect or Japanese Shinran Buddhism and the similarities and interaction of civilizations and religion. It also cites the complexity of social situation and the difference of the stance of religious faith and teachings in both Habibi Ali and Shinran from that of conventional fundamentalists.
