Hope's Minor Practicks and Richard Augustine Hay.
- Authors
Russell, Julian
- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the book "Minor Practicks," by Thomas Hope and discusses the history of its publication. The work was not published during Hope's lifetime, but after his death it was produced in two editions including "Minor Practicks, or, a Treatise of the Scottish Law" in 1726, by Alexander Bayne and again in 1734 by John Spottiswoode under the title "Practical Observations Upon divers Titles of the Law of Scotland, Commonly called Hope's Minor Practicks." The author discusses differences that exist between the two texts as well as individuals who likely helped in their compilation including the priest Richard Augustine Hay.
