- Abstract
The article discusses the concepts of just war and the use of war as punishment, focusing on whether punishment is a just cause for war as well as political theorists' shift from accepting retributive war to rejecting it. Collective guilt, asymmetric war, and the culpability of enemy civilians are also discussed. Winston Churchill, World War II, and the morality of war as punishment are also discussed.
