- Title
RAMPANT CARIES SECONDARY TO COUGH SYRUP ADDICTION.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of dental caries due to cough syrup addiction. It mentions that cough syrups are a mixture of sugar in water and fermentable carbohydrates that may create acidic environments and explains that fermentable carbohydrates in the presence of poor oral hygiene can increase susceptibility of rampant caries. The caries can be diagnosed by analyzing the patient's detailed social and medical history and can be treated with proper consultation with the physician to stop the abuse of the syrup. Also discussed is the clinical presentation of the dental problem caused by drug addiction and its radiographic appearance.
