- Abstract
A new hydroquinone, diazenylhydroquinone (1) as well as three isoflavones, 7,4′-dimethoxyisoflavone (2), 5-hydroxy-7,4′-dimethoxyisoflavone (3) and 5-hydroxy-7,3′,4′-trimethoxyisoflavone (4); eleven benzenoids, p-hydroxybenzoic acid (5), p-methoxybenzoic acid (6), benzoic acid (7), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (8), methylparaben (9), vanillic acid (10), salicylic acid (11), ferulic acid (12), isoferulic acid (13), methyl ferulate (14) and protocatechuic acid (15), were isolated from the stalks of Cucurbita pepo L. (Cucurbitaceae). The structure of the new hydroquinone was elucidated by chemical and physical evidence.
