- Abstract
Voltage sag is one impediment for power quality maintenance in electrical distribution systems. In a system, system voltage profile and system frequency can be maintained by balancing reactive and active power, respectively. Alleviation of voltage sag is made here by a conducive injection of reactive power in the system. Modelling of electric vehicle (EV) is made, calculation of reactive power injection to the system while EV discharging is nurtured for the alleviation of voltage sag. Conversion of power discharge from EV into reactive power injection has been done using single‐phase DC–DC boost converter. The emancipation of solar power has been made for charging EV. The whole approach is based on the linear programming model for the optimisation of reactive power injection in the system for effective voltage sag mitigation. The components of this approach (e.g. photovoltaic (PV) cell, DC machine and single‐phase DC–DC boost converter) are structured in resistive companion form method. The proposed method is validated with a 37 bus Barak Valley Indian Distribution System.
